Transformers

With the release of, Transformers – Revenge of the Fallen, I wanted to watch the first one, before watching the sequel.

The action doesn’t seem to stop from the moment the movie starts. The movie is exciting and fun and definitely worth seeing if you haven’t seen it yet.

It is in a sense a bit thought provoking and lets one wonder a bit about the singularity, and the influence technology will have on our existence in the future.

I can’t wait to watch the new one.

DJ Set – 40th Birthday at Powell Farm

The ABBA themed, 40th Birthday party for Gregg Powell was hosted at the Powell Residence.

The night kicked off with drinks in the Powell pub at 18:00, and moved into the Decked out venue at about 19:00.

After dinner, there was a show of ABBA style dancing, with some convincing costumes, after which the dance floor was open. The party of 70, partied it up untill the earlier hours of the morning. Needless to say, many hangovers will be experienced by all.

Catering, Décor and choreography arranged by Tracey Powell, Gregg’s wife. Audio and lighting by AudioWorx. Placing by Uranium Studio.

Deception

From seeing the trailer, we were interested in watching this movie and expected some good twists and turns, but were irritatedly disappointed.

The concept of “the list” was a bit ridiculous, yet quite believable at the same time. In today’s age of long work days and the amount of crap people have to put up with to get to the top, the concept of a sex club is believable yet, demeaning and sick.

Do the screenwriters not think of things like AIDS and other STDs when writing movies.

The bad guy’s plan was actually quite clever and must have involved quite a bit of research, taking advantage of and preying on the weakness of the introvert with no friends or girlfriend, who does nothing but work.

The ending worked out half well, for the good guy. Half good because he got the girl, but chose to leave the money, when he could have had both!

Max Payne

Looking at the cover of Max Payne or watching the trailer for that matter, one gets the impression of being taken on a thrilling, super natural ride, with demons, monsters and some real mean stuff.

I’m almost sorry to say that Max Payne was not exactly what we had expected. The movie had the odd surprising twist and was not incisively boring either, but it wasn’t all the trailer had made it out to be.

After the movie starts, it feels as if everything happens so quickly and then it is over. When watching it for the second time, the movie seemed to start and end, which is not really the way I like it, I prefer to feel totally lost while watching a movie and lose all track of time and sometimes reality.

Some of the scenes are a bit stupid and Max doesn’t exactly lead by example. Seriously when you live is such a dodgy area, you don’t let people walk home on their own, especially if they’re high and you’re a cop.

I think the obvious and ridiculous stupidity of some of the scenes echoes the realness of what we are all subject to at some time or another, when faced with people who can’t think for themselves.

The movie has got some good action and exciting scenes and you could easily find yourself, wanting to scream kill or shoot.

If you’re battling to choose what movie to rent and it is in, take it.

Mad Money

Aren’t we all mad about money, or at least what we can do with it.

Mad Money demonstrates, how ridiculous some people’s perspective of the real world is and what they think it takes to get a job and keep it. The movie depicts how high flyers, maintain their altitude, on the banks money and how they crumble and fall, when they can’t sustain their debt any more.

This movie also reminds us how filthy and stinky, cold hard cash is and why we should all use credit cards and fund transfers.

With a star studded cast, Mad Money, is funny and enjoyable. Just when you think it is all over, the story takes a pleasant twist which allows the movie to end on the oh so typical positive note of a comedy.

Comedies are not my first choice, but this light hearted movie, is most definitely worth a watch.
